Trujillo, Honduras

After Roatan we settled into some real sightseeing of one of the most laid back countries in Central America. The people of Honduras were amazing. One of our first stops was in the small town on Trujillo, once a thriving tourism center but due to severe damage from Hurricane Mitch tourism has declined. It is on its way back though.
Checking out the scene.
trujillo is famous for bing Honduras' last stand against William Walker. You may remember our friend Walker from earlier posts, the famous Tennessean that took over Nicaragua twice. He made his move on Honduras but they were having none of it and shot him at the fort where I am standing. Go Honduras!!

The view from the fort is beautiful. I can see why William Walker wanted it.

The hills surrounding trujillo covered in Palm forests
